AirVenture 2002 Lancair ES Example

In the ES builders' fuselage workshop that Lancair builders can take at the factory, one of the tasks that is completed is mounting the windows into the top of the fuselage. Once the window is bonded into place with Hysol adhesive, they are clamped into place with bolts, washers, and wing-nuts You can see where the bolts went through the fuselage skin along the edge of the window. You can also see where the washers were to help hold the Plexiglas in place. To help make sure that you don't have problems releasing the bolts and washers, you can wrap the the portion of the bolt that will likely be exposed to Hysol with Teflon plumbers tape. You can also put clear packing tape on the flat side of the washer on the side that will be contacting the Hysol adhesive. It is important to note that holes should not be drilled through the Plexiglas. Doing so will likely crack the windows.
