Wing Cradles

The wing cradles will be installed on top of the 4 tables that I created for the wings. There are 4 cradles per wing. The cradles hold the wings in specific positions to make sure that the wings maintain a specific shape, and the correct degree of twist.

I have chosen to make my cradles out of 3/4” MDF ( Medium Density Fiberboard ). I have found several benefits to using this material:

  • It is very easy to cut with decent precision.
  • There is a high degree of consistency from board to board. There also typically isn’t a problem with warping with the boards, and no problem with knots.
  • I do not have to worry about getting annoying and painful splinters.
  • Once I make a cut, there is very little, if any, finish work needed.

I will be mosting more information and pictures soon.
