Although I am choosing not to hire builder’s assistance, I am getting
a lot of help. Some of the help I am getting is in the form of information
and expert guidance. I am taking every opportunity to have knowledgable
and qualified individuals inspect my work along the way. From time to
time, I am also getting verious forms of physical assistance. I think
it is important to give those that are helping credit for their contribution.

| Terry Parsons |
Terry is my loving wife. She has been increadibly
supportive about this project. She realizes that building is something
I just have to do, even though she is more looking forward to the
day we are flying all over the US in the plane we built. I can’t tell
you how many of my plane building buddies have met her and asked “Does
Terry have a single sister?”. |
| Michael Franklin |
Michael is an avid photographer.
I knew that I wanted good pictures of delivery day, but I also knew
that I would be too busy that day managing the process to take pictures.
Fortunatly Michael offered to help on delivery day, so I handed my
digital camera to him, and told him to record the delivery. I told
him what I wanted the images for, and he did his thing. I was most
pleased with the job he had done. |
| Ron Galbraith |
Ron is an ES builder in Longmont
CO. He was the first to invited me to visit him and his project. He
devoted an entire afternoon to showing me his project, and gave me
all sorts of information that has saved me time, and helped me make
better decisions. Ron’s ES project is actually his 2nd homebuilt.
He had successfully completed a Long-Eze before, but sold it to help
fund the ES project. From time to time, Ron helps me via e-mail. |
| Gary Hunter |
Gary Hunter is an expert in the
epoxy resin industry. He has worked for Shell Chemical, USA in the
resins division for many years as a Technical Service Rep. This division
was spun off as Resolution Performance Product (www.resins.com).
Gary is the crew chief for Bruce Bohannon, first with Pushy Galor,
and now with the Exxon Flying Tiger. Gary is also the EAA Technical
Counselor for EAA Chapter 774 in Brookshire Texas (just west of Houston).
He typically conducts a session at AirVenture on epoxy resins. Gary
has his own VariEze that he built, and has been flying for many years.
Gary is an increadibly helpful person. He is very generious with his
time and knowledge. Just do a search on the Internet using the criteria
+”Gary Hunter” +epoxy and you will read the many responses to questions
he has given to others that are now preserved in discussion board
archieves. He has been a phenominal information resources for me.
I just can not say enough good about this guy. |
| Lon & Pam Kelley |
Lon and Pam are Houston area ES
builders. They completed their ES in 1997, and have been flying it
ever since. This was their first homebuilt project. Both of them built
the plane together. Both have been a real inspiration, and both have
been there to help any time I ask. Lon was also nice enough to give
Terry and I our first ES ride in October 2000. |
| Dan Newland |
Dan is a Lancair ES builder that
I have been talking to. It turns out that Dan does professional composite
consulting. He has done a lot of work on the America's cup racing
yachts, and has done some composite consulting work for some aircraft
manufacturers. Dan has shared some of his expertise with me, and am
working on including that information in this website. |
| Jim & Liz Nordin |
Jim & Liz successfully built
a Long-Eze, and now are working on a Lancair 360. They just happen
to live about 2 blocks from us. Both have been helpful and are nice
people to spend time with. Jim also is very knowledgeable about building
aircraft the right way. Each time he stops by my house, he shares
some significant piece of information, or some builder’s trick that
really makes a difference. I feel much better knowing that Jim is
checking in on my work frequently. |
| Don Parsons Sr. |
My father drove down from Austin
to help on delivery day and the day after. His help was greatly appreciated.
He was especially helpful the day after delivery. He did most of the
work needed to tear down the crates. There was an incredible amount
of wood, nails, and staples that needed to be taken apart. This allowed
me to inspect parts looking for damage, and to start doing inventory. |
| Troy Rodriguez |
Troy regularly operates a forklift
moving HAZMAT loads. Troy operated the forklift that unloaded my kit
crates. Troy did an outstanding job. Once I saw others in our group
operate the forklift to move parts of the empty crates, I got a better
appreciation for just how much of a difference his skills made. |
| Mike & Tammy Salzman |
Mike & Tammy are ES builders
in northern CA. They came to visit a few weeks after I had taken delivery
of my kit to help give me some pointers. We had a great time with
them. I had also invited Lon & Pam Kelley, and Jim & Liz Nordin.
We had our own little Lancair BBQ.Mike & Tammy had a lot of little
pointers that evening. They even brought “project warming gifts” (
a rotary cutter, and a Dremel diamond cutting wheel ).Periodically
Mike and I correspond via e-mail, and Yahoo!Messenger. |
| Pat Sewell |
Pat Sewell is one of my neighbors
and is a Beechcraft Baron flyer. He is completely convinced that I
am crazy for building, but he is still helpful and supportive. On
delivery day Pat came over to help us get everything in the garage.
The Sun was setting fast, and there was a reasonable chance of rain
that night, so I needed all the help I could get. Aside from the fact
that Pat is a really great guy, he is also good to have around because
he is always looking out for safety issues. Another thing that I cannot
possibly thank Pat enough for... Once we had the crates torn down,
we had a large pile of scrap lumber in the vacant lot next door. Pat
had one of his disposal crews come pick up the pile, and haul it off.
That spared me a lot of trouble and expense. Thank you very much Pat!!!! |
| Kay & Anthony Wilson |
I described to Kay some of the
issues I was up against preparing for my kit delivery. Within 30 minutes,
Kay had information about the forklift I could rent, the additional
questions I needed to ask Lancair, the pricing, the contact name,
the phone number, and all of the rest of the details. Not only that,
but her son Troy Rodriguez and her husband Anthony Wilson were forklift
trained and certified. Anthony is an HR manager at Home
Depot in Houston TX. Anthony was on hand helping on delivery day.
Both deserve significant thanks for making a big difference on how
well things went on delivery day. |
