Jim had a different solution for wing tie down fittings. Here is what Jim told me about this modification:

"The tie down rings are from a boat shop. They are bow rings for small boats that are used to winch the boats onto their trailers and keep them there. I got mine at a local shop. Cheap and very strong. Happen to have studs in them that are the same thread as the receiver brackets that came with the Lancair kit. Worked like a charm."

I think this looks nicer than the tie down loops that come with the kit. It is amazing where you can find cool solutions.
